From November 2020 to April 2023 I worked with the Amazon Alexa Speech organisation, and primarily with Amazon Hybrid Science (AHS) team located in Pittsburgh (PA, USA). Since May 2023, I have been working with Amazon Lab126, which is an inventive San Francisco Bay Area research and development team that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronic devices, and in particular embedded audio solutions for Echo products. Below are some of my past activities: - From 1998 to 2017, I was Responsible of SHINE (Speech-acoustic scene analysis and interpretation) research unit of FBK - Center of Information and Communication Technology, for which I worked till November 2020. - From 2001 to 2014, I was contract professor teaching "Audio signal processing" at the Department of Information and Communication Technology - University of Trento. - From 2003 to 2005 I served as Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Speech and Audio Processing journal. From 2010 to 2016, I was editorial board member of the Language Resources and Evaluation journal. - From 2006 to 2009, I was coordinator of DICIT EC project (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/034624), and from 2012 to 2014, coordinator of DIRHA EC project (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/288121). - From 2014 to 2016, I was elected member of IEEE SPS Speech-Language Technical Committee. - I served as: General CoChairman of IEEE ASRU 2001 and HSCMA 2008 workshops, Local Chair of IEEE-ASRU 2009, Tutorial Chair of Interspeech 2011, Area Chair for Interspeech 2013, Technical Area Chair for ASRU 2015, Special Session Chair for EUSIPCO 2017. - From 2018 to 2020, I served as member of IEEE James L. Flanagan Award Committee. I am author of more than 150 papers in major international conferences and journals in the field. Expertise in the following research areas: Automatic Speech Recognition(ASR), ASR Robustness, Microphone Arrays, Voice-enabled automatic systems, Acoustic Scene Analysis, Sound Source Localization, Speech Enhancement,Blind Source Separation, Musical signal processing and understanding, Audio and speech coding.
