Some of the major aspects of this role included: • Continuous development and implementation of engineering solutions to a variety of project and design issues. • Strictly enforcing deadlines and upholding project targets. • Organizing data and modeling information for use in key decision-making. • Collaborating with local and international institutions on the development of novel catalyst materials and MEAs for fuel cell applications. • Developing laboratory synthesis procedures for producing a wide range of catalyst products with performance exceeding commercial equivalents from major international competitors. • Detailed techno-economic evaluations. • Carrying out continuous improvement projects to enhance product performance and to ensure sustained competitiveness. • Executing a complete Six Sigma DMAIC project to improve catalyst performance in accordance with customer requirements. • Developing and implementing industry standard testing protocols for the evaluation of key product performance metrics. • Scaling up laboratory synthesis procedures to commercial scale production (1g/batch to kg/batch). • Production process optimization to lower final product costs to match that of commercial competitors. • Development of membrane electrode assemblies to evaluate catalyst materials and to achieve overall fuel cell performance exceeding commercial benchmark assemblies. • Fuel cell stack testing, assembly & disassembly, failure analysis. • Supervision and training of technicians, scientists, engineers and students.
