I also believe that "done is better than perfect" (particularly when the iteration cycle exists). I believe that infrastructure is just as much a product or set of products for a company as is their core offering to customers, and that this is how you build reliable infrastructure. I believe in incident-based feedback, and detailed data-collection, monitoring, and alerting. I believe in code review and unit testing even for infrastructure tooling, though applying common sense to the latter. Languages include: C, Python, Go, Perl and some limited Java and Ruby Technologies have included things from switches and routers (including some BGP leaf management), up to some RDBMS administration (Postgres and MySQL), and ZooKeeper, HBase, Hadoop, YARN and HDFS. I have also had reasonable experience in packaging and distributing software for internal uses.
