He works closely with Commonwealth and State government agencies on resilience, security, intelligence and regulations then briefs and advises senior leaders on those issues. Since 2017 Matt has been the Co-Chair, representing industry, of the Australian government Resilience Expert Advisory Group (REAG), developing strategy and action plans to improve resilience of our critical infrastructure. In 2010 Matt was awarded an Australian Leadership Award by the Australian Davos Connection, recognising leadership ability and commitment to shaping critical infrastructure security and resilience. At Woolworths (2018 to late 2021), Origin Energy (2015 to 2018) and at Caltex (2008 to 2015) Matt held similar roles, advising the business, setting standards and working closely with Executive and operational leadership to deliver effective resilience and security measures. In 2006 Matt was the Public Domain Precinct Security Coordinator, Melbourne Commonwealth Games, planning and coordinating security operations between Victoria Police, security and other stakeholders within large public gatherings. Prior to that Matt was the Investigations Coordinator of the Counter Terrorist Command, NSW Police, coordinating investigations and operations into terrorist suspects and cells with both national and international policing and intelligence agencies. He performed duties in the Middle East and Europe on counter terrorism operations in conjunction with Federal and international agencies. As a senior criminal investigator for many years he gained extensive experience in investigating and resolving kidnappings, extortions, product contamination, violent armed robberies and homicides.
