How'd I get to Aiven... - From 2007 to 2018 I put ~12 years of fun, blood, sweat, and tears into building Red Hat into the only +2 Billion dollar open source software company before I left to join some other ex-Red Hatters to "do it again" at another Emerging Tech / open source software firm, NGINX, from 2018-21. - F5 acquired NGINX as I was building that Partner ecosystem and I became a bit redundant in F5’s very mature channel structure. - Then I took the same passion & history of success to Hashicorp, to "do it again", and build another partner ecosystem. - At Hashicorp we were a company focused on hyper-growth. My team worked with the partners our customers valued most (from pre-sales / consulting thru implementation), everyone from Regional SI’s (AHEAD, Insight, CDW, Optiv, River Point Technologies) or VAR’s, Cloud Partners (& their ecosystem), to the big GSI’s (Accenture, PwC, EY, TechMahindra). - In late 2022, I took the role of “Mr Fix-it” challenge at SoftwareAG North America. I joined to turn around an under performing Alliances & Channels unit, find go-to-market partners that want to help us grow (net new logos, penetrate new business units), help change a culture that has been “direct” For 53 years, and help get the cloud motion going. Prior to SoftwareAG, Hashicorp, NGINX/F5, and Red Hat, I was as an IBM Client Exec & EMC Global Account Manager. In those roles, I was at my best in building relationships between my company and my clients and leveraging my knowledge for my client's benefit. I learned to understand and appreciate the challenges that corporate IT & software developers face and how business drives technology needs and decisions. Over my years in the tech industry I've managed small teams locally, large teams remotely and globally, and matrix'd teams (including engineer's, marketing, operations, and legal). I'm a leader that people will follow and execute for. I'm very good at "taking lemons, and making lemonade" by digging into a business and developing new processes, new operations, or hiring the right people to turn the unit around and/or drive growth. Lessons Learned & Continuous Improvement are the name of the game to keep things moving up & to the right!
