Upon arrival, I was hired to wait tables at the Marriott Hotel’s Nalu’s Sunset Bar and Sushi restaurant in Ka’anapali. Three years later, I transferred to the Marriott Renaissance Hotel in Wailea where I worked as a waiter in the Palm Court Dining Room. The hotel closed in 07. In 04, I pursued a year-long course to become a licensed massage therapist. Upon graduation and after receiving my license, I started my own business, Relax Therapeutic Massage (website: MauiRelax.com), a business that still thrives today. As is customary on Maui, I have more than one position. I’ve property managed two homes and one condominium since 2010. I’ve also been employed as a casual banquet waiter at the Waldorf Astoria Grand Wailea since 2011. In May of 2014, I began my foray into real estate. I completed a 60-hour real estate course and in July of 2014, I passed both the national and Hawaii state real estate licensing tests and received my actual license in Sept. Bob Cella, owner/broker of Caldwell Banker Island Property’s Wailea office, brought me on board. In my first 18 months, I’ve achieved 4.22 million in sales between two listings and four buyers. I specialize in the South Maui areas of Kihei, Wailea and Makena in both residential and condominium properties. The Year of Big Changes / 01 In December of 01, just months after the 9/11 tragedy, I was laid off from Aston Perera Interior Design (in San Francisco) due to lack of work. In 02, I worked as a contract designer for the Closet Factory and also parked cars at special events for California Parking. In October of 02, I secured a full-time position as a waiter in the main dining room at the Ahwahnee Hotel, located in Yosemite National Park. Yosemite is a place I had visited many times throughout my life and I loved it’s grandeur and beauty. Jobs there are coveted and I jumped at the chance to live and work in this amazing place.
