Marnie Feneley Email & Phone Number | I am a curator and art historian. My areas of expertise include Asian and Australian art history and contemporary art. I have extensive experience working in Museums and Galleries researching and curating exhibitions, Including large curated immersive interaction projects. I have been an art historian and lecturer in the tertiary sector for the last 15 years and I have engaged in innovative research. In my post-doctoral position at UNSW I applied immersive visualisation and advanced digital technologies to preserve and interpret important cultural heritage sites and sculptures, and also investigated the impact of immersive learning environments (3D virtual reality) on deep learning processes and motivation in university students. For example, I applied digital visualisation and 3D immersive technologies to archaeological data in order to rebuild the medieval temple of the West Mebon (Angkor, Cambodia) and the 6-metre-long sculpture of Vishnu which was once emplaced there. I was primary researcher on the ARC-funded Atlas of Maritime Buddhism project (2016 - 2018), which included tracing the transmission of Buddhism from India to China, documenting 100 sites and 200 sculptural objects from across Asia using photogrammetry and stereo-panoramic photography. I designed and taught the 3rd year course 'Asian Cities: History Culture and Trade', which included conducting virtual field trips ( augmented reality) in UNSW’s iCinema Centre for Interactive Cinema Research. I have given keynotes at Harvard University, the National Gallery of Australia and the University of Sydney. I have also given guest lectures for École Polytechnique Fédérale De Lausanne, Switzerland, and was awarded a travel grant to take up the position of Scientist in Residence at Heidelberg University, Germany.
