Mark Uphill Email & Phone Number | I have worked at Cardiff University since May 1979 in the Physiology department. This department seeded into the Cardiff School of Molecular and medical Biosciences in the mid nineties and then into the Cardiff School of Biosciences in 1999. I have managed a busy Physiology student teaching laboratory. This included the design of the lab building some of the equipment and recording leads used in the lab. Also managing consumable stock levels and technical support, writing risk assessments and SOP's and technical notes. I then moved onto managing a group of seven technical staff and managing the day to day running of four teaching laboratories. I have passed a IMS Management training course. In July 2012 I left the teaching group to take a role in the Senior IT support team. The IT team provides support to users, software and hardware in the Cardiff School of Biosciences. I have been on many training courses with regard to IT support in the University and now have many new skills to help with the day to day support of IT services in the school. . Moving to this new team has completely reinvigorated me and I have made great advances in my IT support abilities. Since moving to the IT Team in July 2012 I have gained knowledge of windows XP, 7,8, 8.1 and 10, Windows server 2008 R2, Mac OSX and some Linux. I am familiar with Microsoft Office 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016 and Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 and 2016. I maintain a server that is running Microsoft Server 2008 R2 that uses Hyper V to run a Windows 8.1 VM that hosts an AD Instruments server for a Physiology/Neuroscience teaching laboratory. I have experience of managing a database of staff PC's, Laptops and Macs that are renewed on a 4 year rolling replacement scheme. I have experience of managing school mailing lists and staff accounts and password management systems. I have experience of managing the school team of IT support technicians as service delivery team lead since 14th March 2018. TBC
