Mark Thomson Email & Phone Number | I began my career in 1997 in the warehouse of DB Schenker Australia (Melbourne) supervising the day to day activities of the warehouse. 2000 was a year of change as I moved to DHL Express (Melbourne) for the next 8 years working in both the warehouse and the export department. I was fortunate to secure a job in 2008 with DHL Global Forwarding (Melbourne) as a compiler while studying to become a licensed customs broker through the CBFCA. 2011 witnessed a move from Melbourne to Perth with an internal transfer with DHL Global Forwarding to fulfil the role as custom broker with their Perth Branch. Ernst and Young (“EY”) expanded their Customs and Indirect Tax Consultancy team in 2015 and employed me as Manager to oversee the customs duty impose of the Nyrstar Port Pirie Transformation Project. In addition to my official capacity I was also involved with reviewing other clients customs data, write executive summaries, report writing and present outcomes to clients. After the EY project concluded I returned to the freight industry as a customs broker with Famous Pacific Shipping (Perth). In my year at FPS we were awarded Customs Brokerage of the year. 2020 I became part of the Woodside Advisory Team overseeing customs border controls and compliance matters. It goes without saying this is the most exciting role of my career. In a lesser capacity I give my time to industry as a part-time facilitator with the nationally recognised International Forwarders & Customs Brokers Association of Australia (IFCBAA) specialising in valuations, customs practises and indirect tax.
