He also released a book entitled Faster Than Forty, detailing the diet, lifestyle, training techniques, and other physiological manipulations that enabled his return to Track & Field competition after a 13-year hiatus. Gomes has since retired from Track & Field and semi-retired from the business world. He now donates his time to coach high school cross-country in Miami Beach, Florida.
