As a teacher I have helped students to focus on their and my responsibilities towards equality of opportunity that includes equal access to lifelong learning – catering is a very positive vehicle to celebrate equality and as a team orientated profession it develops skills in young people to enhance their own personal understanding of respect, support and collaboration. High quality teaching and learning begins with the starting point of each learner, and the engagement that comes about from a well - planned, structured and resourced lesson. Goals must be clear and owned by learners, the more that they can contribute to building their learning and planning their educational journey the more chance there is of a successful outcome.Effective teaching and learning has to be purposeful and at appropriate pace for learners, I have consistently improved grades of learners with high needs specifically through introducing commercial targets that link in well to numeracy and entrepreneurial skills. I have a wide range of experience of curriculum development and have generated ideas for implementing innovative practice
