Previously, I was employed by the University of Pretoria for six years intermittently in different teaching/ language related positions at the Department of European Languages, the Unit for Academic Literacy and the Translation and Interpreting Studies section. I was also involved with the Humanities Writing Centre at UP as a writing consultant and head writing consultant. My postgraduate studies focused on translation and include a master's degree in applied language studies and a D Litt. et Phil. in Applied Linguistics and Literary Theory. My main research interest currently lies in the field of translation sociology and translation's relationship with power and ideology. I have successfully supervised one master's student in the field of translation studies and am currently supervising another master's student in the same field.
