Margaret Shaver is a For the past six years, I have worked for Strive Prep as a 6th-grade and 7th-grade teacher, until last year when I made the transition to special education. Throughout my time in these roles, I have found that I am motivated by the growth and joy found in a classroom. My motivation to continue to stay in the classroom in this post pandemic world, stems from a deep love and admiration of the resiliency of my students and their ability to grow, despite seen and unforeseen challenges. I choose not only to lead with a growth mindset but to create opportunities for celebration and support so students continue to push themselves academically, as well as socially and emotionally. Whether it's unpacking data to support individual learners, conferencing with scholars, or collaborating with teammates, I strive to not only bring intentionality but an open mind. If there is one thing that I took away from teaching in a pandemic, it's that joy and flexibility are crucial in our ever-changing educational landscape.
