She has 14 years of experience in Immunogenetics dissecting the genetics of Type 1 Diabetes, SLE and experimental autoimmune gastritis. She performed Genetic Linkage analyses and utilised congenic mouse strains for gene expression microarray profiling to identify disease-associated candidate genes. In the case of genes controlling the immunoregulatory subset, NKT cells, she subsequently confirmed candidacy by producing transgenic and knock out strains. Additionally, she is proficient in qPCR, sequencing and microsatellite/SNP typing. She has extensive experience working with DNA, RNA and proteins, cell preparations for flow cytometry, immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry. Dr Jordan has produced a substantial body of novel work dissecting the genetic causes of autoimmunity. She has published 12 primary manuscripts, 6 reviews and 5 abstracts, She has presented at both national and international conferences and she has been an invited speaker on 5 occasions. She is the recipient of 6 travel awards, 2 medals, 3 poster prizes and the Science Communicators prize, as well as being awarded a small equipment grant. Dr Jordan also has 11.5 years experience as a Medical Scientist in Cytogentics becoming expert in identifying chromosome anomalies in human blood, bone-marrow, amniotic fluid and CVS samples. She established/cryopreserved and deposited human EBV-transformed cell lines in Coriell Cell Repositories; extracted DNA for population studies of peoples of Sub-Saharan origin; prepared centomeric probes/chromosome paints and was instrumental in establishing the FISH division within the Cytogenetics Unit, S.A.I.M.R. which facilitated further research of patient samples to better define translocations and the interphase screening of numerical aberrations.
