These positions have allowed me to develop my skills in GIS programs in particular Arcmap and MapInfo as well as refining my communications skills. I am able to work well with people having a good understanding that everyone is different and they have different needs. My goal is to work in the area of GIS and the environment. I’m interested in the use of GIS and various modelling programs that help guide decision making processes so that the environmental impact of projects can be minimised where possible. I also have a particular interest in how GIS can be used in the areas of urban planning with regard to storm water and water resource management, land management, and the effect that the urban sprawl is having on the availability of land for food production and species conservation. Other areas of interest are soil physics and hydrology and obtaining a better understanding of how this can be used for agricultural sustainability and land rehabilitation particularly regarding irrigation practices. I am interested in obtaining a position where I can use and improve my skills in data management, creation, analysis, editing, and cartography. Specialties: GIS - I have experience with MapInfo, ArcMap, QGIS and Gtechnology. Communication Skills - that I have refined in my position as Metropolitan Field Assistant. I'm able to communicate well with people and liaise with clients and stakeholders.
