  Marcello Cruz is a I've been in the commercial construction industry since 1996. Started as a metal stud framer with a focus on schools, medical expansions and buildings on federal property. I've worked two JOC(Job Order Contract) contracts as Quality control inspector and then assistant Quality Control Manager. After this I also continued as QC with Balfourbeatty on Fort Riley(Army Installation) working the 350M hospital replacement. The QC positions were very in depth, understanding the specs/drawings, conducting meetings and developing relationships that helped move the projects from initial plan to completed project. I then took the opportunity, moved to superintendent, were I completed the turn over of the Replacement Hospital and continued working in the medical field. I performed a buildout of a Cathlab in Dallas TX, coordinating with a great team as this was active/occupied hospital, building between operating rooms and ICU area. I continued in Portland with building out a Pharmaceutical building that included a new clean room, then performed a gut and buildout of lab space for Underwriter Laboratory in Vancouver. The coordination with owners, reps, state inspectors and my team was critical for success and again highlights the need for quality relationships to be built and utilized. I changed Companies and spent two years working on Nike campus learning a new challenge by managing the build of a wood pedestrian bridge (once in a lifetime opportunity) and upgrading the roof and HVAC equipment to the Tiger Woods Building. After these projects were completed (during covid) I was given the opportunity to get back into healthcare, first for Kaiser and then for OHSU on a sustainment contract working in both the hospital side and again in lab buildings. These projects operated very similar to federal contract work where you work closely with the owners, QC and my team to understand the job constraints and develop plans to best accommodate the customer while addressing unforeseen items found during the operation.
