Marc Le Moignan is a In July 2011 I graduated from the University of Surrey with a 1st Class Masters in Chemistry with Forensic Investigation. Since then I have completed a number of roles involving Polymer Manufacturing and Postgraduate Research. I am now completing my 1 year of training to become a Secondary School Science Teacher in Jersey under the Jersey Graduate Teacher Training Programme. During my Undergraduate studies I had been focussed on the Chemistry involving the Research and Development of various Polymer/Material technologies. I completed a Professional Training Year at Cytec Engineered Materials where my role involved the synthesis and characterisation of high performance, thermosetting polymers which were targeted for the aerospace industry. This was a laboratory based position which enabled me to develop my skills in Organic/Polymer Chemistry and gain valuable experience in the interpretation of results from analytical techniques such as 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, DEPT-NMR and MALDI- MS. I also gained experience in the use and analysis of DSC, DMTA and SEM techniques. During my Final Year at the University of Surrey I completed my dissertation on “The Synthesis, Preparation and Characterisation of Bismaleimide/Dicyanate Ester Resin Blends”. Throughout the project, multiple organic monomers were synthesised from raw materials and then polymerised in resin blends before being analysed through mechanical testing. This independent project allowed me to gain more laboratory experience as well as improve my knowledge in new mechanical and analytical techniques such as TGA analysis and Raman Spectroscopy. I possess excellent leadership and communication competence which along with my energetic personality allows me to be self-motivated and capable of working under pressure. In the near future, I hope to be working as a Secondary School Science Teacher.
