I now serve as an Overnight Inpatient Clinical Pharmacist, a hard-to-fill position, where my duties now reflect niche inpatient pharmacy practices, critical care and medical emergency response, utilizing ACLS and PALS, expertise of IV drugs, compatibilities, interactions, therapeutic drug monitoring, dose adjustments, and daily narcotic transaction audits. I was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander in June 2021, which had only a 25% promotion rate to this rank. My ancillary duties include Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) Chair and Infectious Disease PGY1/PGY2 Residency Preceptor, and National IHS ASP Secretary. I previously staffed the outpatient clinics as a National Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (NCPS) in comprehensive medical management, where I saw patients with a broad range of disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, epilepsy, asthma, and thyroid disorders, among others. I also split time working in the inpatient pharmacy caring for patients on a dedicated ward (5-20 patients/day), and providing patient care and medication counseling in the outpatient pharmacy (>400,000 prescriptions annually). My prior ancillary duties included being a Narcotic Officer, Secretary of ASP, and Women's Health Pharmacist, where I served on an interprofessional committee and developed pharmacy-specific and hospital-wide Emergency Contraception policies and protocols. I am a certified HIGH Fitness instructor, enjoy HIIT workouts and CrossFit classes, hiking, volunteering with Parker’s Animal Rescue, spending time with my rescue pups, Theodore and Rexford, and writing special occasion poems.
