Previously, I was a Media Fellow (as Copy Chief) for the Portland State Vanguard and a book team member at Ooligan Press. In my foray into the legal field, I worked with New Mexico Legal Aid & the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Project. ***** I am endorsed in English Language Arts, Social Science, Reading, and Library Media, in both New Mexico and Washington state. In addition to being a teacher performance coach for Achieve Excellence (with the New Mexico Public Education Department), I worked at the district level augmenting traditional curriculum alongside the Cultural Education Department, writing district-wide unit plans, and writing/vetting assessments. At my school site, I chaired the English Department, and worked with administration as part of the Core Leadership team. While completing my Bachelor's in English (minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), I was part of a development program for the Ministry of Education of Taiwan and my university, Western Washington University, that created a culturally-relevant and sustainable English language curriculum that could be taught by American and Taiwanese teachers in conjunction, serving rural and Aboriginal communities in Taiwan. After completing my teaching practicum at Bellingham Technical College, teaching transitional English, I completed my Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction in May 2019 which my capstone research in Culturally-Sustaining Curriculum & School-Community Connection. Afterwards, I pursued my MA in English, while teaching as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (Instructor of Record) for technical and research writing. Additionally, I am a published writer of poetry and scholarship.
