In the counseling room Haeden integrates beliefs in trauma informed care, anti-oppression work, neurodiversity, health at every size (HAES), and gender affirming care. Haeden practices principles based therapy which means they integrate tools from approaches such as CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), SMART (sensory motor arousal regulation treatment), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), narrative therapy, and other counseling theories based on their clients needs. Haeden specializes in supporting trans and nonbinary youth, young adults, and their families in both identity related areas as well as other mental health concerns. Through experience as a direct care counselor prior to receiving their Master’s and subsequently as a clinician in group home settings, Haeden has often worked with youth and families involved in the foster care system or post adoption. Haeden also has extensive experience working with youth and young adults with depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and autism. Haeden enjoys supporting colleagues in the field in building their understanding of LGBTQ+ identities and the ways those identities can impact individuals in the counseling process. In 2015, Haeden served as assistant for a course in Human Sexuality and Clinical Practice in Art Therapy, including using their personal experience as a transmasculine and non-binary individual to teach a lesson on the use of art in processing and documenting transition. In 2018, Haeden was a guest speaker in a course on Art Therapy with Traumatized Adults at Lesley University, discussing the impacts and prevalence of trauma in the LGBTQ+ community.
