This necessitates a strong knowledge of policies and processes, and the ability to work and negotiate with all levels of the business.Design and implementation of a Control Assurance programme within AXA Wealth, specifically focusing on controls linked to key Operational risks. This included the successful achievement of the following key deliverables: • Development of a Control Assurance framework, policy and process. • Leading the first line of defence in the accurate documentation of key controls, ensuring first line understanding and ownership. • Development of a second line Control Database, providing a repository for all identified controls, enabling second line of defence oversight over the control environment. This supported in the annual quantification and day-to-day management of Operational Risk. • Development and roll-out of Control-Self Assessment (CSA) across all identified controls, ensuring ongoing accountability within the first line of defence. • Development and roll-out of second line control testing to provide independent assurance over the control environment. This included the development of testing methodology, planning of the test cycle, scoping, testing and reporting. • Introduction of a Deficiencies Database to ensure control improvements identified through either documentation, control self-assessment or second line testing were linked to appropriate actions, reported and tracked on an on-going basis. • Creation of appropriate reporting, ensuring the communication needs of all stakeholders were met throughout the programme. This supported in the maintenance of relationships with key individuals at all levels of the business, imperative to the the successful completion of the programme. In addition to the development and roll-out of the Control Assurance programme, services were also provided in relation to the annual quantification of Operational Risks for capital purposes. This included provision of consultancy services in relation to the application of the AXA Operational Risk Framework, process improvements and completion of the quantifications themselves.• Providing technical product support to the business in new product development, acting as a product expert, ensuring compliance with regulation and adherence to AXA PPP policies and processes, and drafting customer outputs in line with these. This required an in-depth knowledge of products, policies and regulatory requirements, the ability to influence at all levels and work to tight timescales. • Leading the implementation of product review within the team and ensuring agreement of proposed changes within the business. This included drafting any changes in line with business requirements to ensure they were clear to the customer, administrable and in line with legal/ regulatory requirements, gaining approval from Rules Subgroup and ensuring their effective delivery. This required in-depth knowledge of private medical insurance and applicable regulation, maintenance of relationships with key stakeholders, and effective communication and presentation skills. • Managing the Large Corporate contracts process within Technical Services. This was to ensure that Sales were supported in the acquisition and retention of Large Corporate clients by varying Large Corporate contracts, negotiating changes with clients and responding to queries regarding contracts and products. • Direct line management responsibility of two Technical Services Officers.• Relationship Manager for Denplan who acted as AXA PPP’s Appointed Representative. This included managing product reviews, financial promotions signoff and advising on product requirements from a legal/ regulatory perspective, all of which required maintenance of a strong relationship and influencing skills. • Providing advice to the business on the compliance of Financial Promotions with law and regulation, including the FSA and ASA. This required detailed knowledge of the applicable regulation and ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders to ensure compliance.
