I opened my first jewellery studio - studio K - in 1973 in Johannesburg, South Africa. In 1976 I won the De Beers Diamonds International Award, which is the world's most prestigious award for the design and manufacture of a diamond necklace. I later won the World Gold Corporation Award and during this time we were also instrumental in making the first pieces of jewellery in a gold alloy, 999 Gold which is pure gold with 1% titanium. These pieces are now showcased in museums around the world. In 1985 we emigrated to Germany where we started Kratz Creative Jewellery in Stuttgart. There we continued to design and manufacture designer jewellery, winning several more industry awards. In 1991 we emigrated to Brisbane, Australia where I lectured at Griffith University on formation goldsmithing and the history of gold and silversmithing through the ages. I re-established Kratz Exclusive Jewellery in 1997 in Park Road, Milton, Brisbane. We love to punctuate life's special moments by helping people to design the perfect piece of jewellery, for the perfect moment.
