Every concept, if possible, is led with a kinesthetic, visual, or creative experience. It is well known that the subconscious mind often provides us with insights long before the conscious mind comes to perceive the same wisdom or knowledge. I believe that people learn best when they’re working with different parts of themselves; their emotional and artistic intelligence often have glimpses into ways forward long before the rational brain knows why. What I love most about my work is helping people to see and do things in a different way, to help them work creatively towards possible solutions to problems they previously found to be immovable. I do this by building practice spaces that are open, welcoming, and safe enough to allow people to bravely lean into discomfort and risk. Throughout my career – from founding and leading a successful for-profit/non-profit hybrid experimental theater, to the process facilitation, design, and management that I’ve done with EmcArts, I have created spaces for clients, artists, and participants to think, develop, and evolve. The line through it all is the bringing out of others, of working hard to step back and hear the voices in the room soar.
