My masters degree is from Lamar University in Education Technology Leadership. Courses that I have taught are: Food Production, Management, and Services; Child Development; Nutrition & Food Science, Dollars and Sense, Principles of Human Services, Principles of Hospitality & Tourism, Principles of Business, Management, and Informational Services; Digital Media, Yearbook, Investigating Careers, Career Portals, Principles of Education and Training; and Principles of Family & Community Services; Food Science, and Professional Communications. The National Consumers League has recognized me as the 2022 National Lifesmarts Coach of the year. My Lifesmarts and Knowledge Bowl teams have competed at the national level since 2019. Scouts of America have recognized me with the Fretwell Outstanding Educator Award and the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award. During my time at Bartlett ISD, I have been recognized with the Secondary Staff Bulldog of the Month award and the 2022 Teacher of the Year award. I have served the students at Bartlett ISD for 11 years. Before my employment with Bartlett ISD, I worked at Granger ISD for 13 years. In all 26 years of teaching, I have also served as an FCCLA Advisor. I have had leadership teams compete at the region, state, and national levels. In addition to the leadership competitions, I have had over 15 Region and State FCCLA officers. I believe the classroom is not just the four walls of a building. I encourage students to take responsibility for their education and often tell them to not let school get in the way of their education and learning. I feel "school" limits a student's potential. Although, in the right classroom atmosphere, school can open a world of opportunities. Students need to be able to recognize their role in learning.
