During this time, I managed community mental health projects, been the locality lead (in Portsmouth) for public mental health, suicide prevention, dementia, public health workforce development and commissioning dental health services. Alongside these roles I was the lead trainer in a Local Authority (and formerly a Primary Care Trust) for mental health and suicide prevention as well as behaviour change, motivational interviewing and from 2013 to 2016 Making Every Contact Count (MECC). I qualified as a MHFA trainer in early 2008 and as a Youth MHFA trainer in 2010. During this time, I have delivered to a wide range of professionals and lay people from health and local authority, universities, colleges, schools, community groups & volunteers, financial sector, commercial enterprises and the clergy. In 2010, I became a National Train Team member for MHFA England, training instructors to deliver Standard MHFA, Youth MHFA and, since 2013, the MHFA Armed Forces courses. I am also approved to deliver the half day adult and youth courses and the one day workplace, youth and higher education courses. I am an external verifier for the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) and have contributed to the development of several qualifications including the RSPH Youth Health Champion programme. I also sit on their health qualifications expert panel. I have a special interest in the health and wellbeing of employees and organisations and have led on workplace health programmes over many years. Line manager training has featured greatly in my in my portfolio and is a particular passion of mine. Upon leaving school and prior to working in the health and social care field, I was a qualified carpenter and joiner, cabinet maker and boat builder.
