  Leanna Flaherty is a I have over fifteen years of experience working as an archaeologist, primarily within cultural resources management. After I received my B.A. from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2001 I immediately began a career as a contract archaeological technician, working project to project across the country with a focus on California, the Great Basin, and Wyoming. I continued doing fieldwork when possible while I was completing my graduate coursework at CSU Chico but during that time I also discovered a passion for teaching as I worked as a graduate student lab instructor and lecturer. In 2010 I was hired as an archaeologist with the BLM Kemmerer Field Office (KFO) via the Student Career Experience Program (SCEP). I worked closely with my mentor during my first three years with BLM, learning the ropes of working for a federal agency. Additionally, for one year during my tenure at the KFO I served in dual roles, working officially as the (SCEP) Planning & Environmental Coordinator while still assisting with the archaeology program. As P&EC, I gained in-depth knowledge of the numerous environmental laws with which federal agencies must comply (particularly NEPA) and valuable experience in project management and conflict resolution. In December 2012 I received my Master's Degree in anthropology and transitioned into a permanent full-time archaeologist position with BLM. Working for a federal agency was incredibly enriching and illuminating and I acquired a much greater understanding about the federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to archaeology. In the summer of 2013 I transferred to the Rock Springs Field Office, where I worked for the next two and half years. I recently moved with my family to Laramie, Wyoming and am currently working as a seasonal archaeologist with Medicine Bow-Routt Thunder Basin National Forests, Laramie Ranger District.
