During this period of tremendous collaboration and growth at the Whitney, she ushered in a new era of retail experiences as revenue generators. In addition to her role in the Retail Department, Lauri also co-curated Eckhaus Latta: Possessed, at the Whitney in 2018. After the Whitney, Lauri worked with The Studio Museum in Harlem and Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery to forge strategic partnerships with brands and other like-minded and value-aligned agencies, businesses, organizations, and individuals. Lauri is evidence that it’s possible to take 20 years off work and still come back to an inspiring job, as she started working at the Whitney after spending two decades as a stay-at-home mom to three children. Since returning to work, she has been afforded the opportunity to speak about her return to the workforce in an In Her Shoes column in NY Magazine’s The Cut, as part of Lafayette 148’s inaugural Unordinary Women campaign, and on a How I Get It Done panel as well as in multiple interviews. In addition, Lauri is the Founder of Three-Fourths of an Ounce (3-4oz.com). Inspired by centuries of mourning rituals and the modern desire for a communal language of compassion, Three-Fourths of an Ounce offers a re-defining approach to remembrance and memorial as well as a forthcoming space devoted to remembering in Red Hook, Brooklyn. In 2018, Lauri founded Project Birthday with the Ali Forney Center in NYC to provide homeless LBGTQ+ youth the chance to honor their birthdays and to understand how worthy of celebration each and every one of their lives is.
