Lauren Szewczyk Email & Phone Number | When I first began college in 2013, I was a vastly different person than I am now. I held different ideals, a different world view, and lacked the experience to know what I truly wanted. I knew that I wanted to live in a better world, and found solace in animation & illustration. As time went on, my vision grew clearer and I no longer wanted to imagine a better world—I wanted to create one. While I knew my heart did not lie in the arts, I persisted. Never one to give up, I completed a Bachelors of Fine Art with a minor in Entrepreneurship in 2017, graduating with high honors. I used my new-found knowledge to streamline my interests. I’ve always been a tinkerer & problem solver, something that served me well when competing in an inventor’s competition in college, but I lacked the technical knowledge to follow through. This led me to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. My gap year was hardly a gap. During this time I maintained three jobs and obtained a license in real estate. Through this, I gained many valuable skills––time management being a fundamental one. As a detail oriented person, I was, most importantly, able to solidify a loose outline for the next 5 years, become more financially stable, and begin the implementation of that plan in 2018. It was a fruitful year seeing a plan go from inception to execution, and one I would not trade for the world. Above all, communication is a value I maintain as a pillar of my professional life. The ability to communicate one’s ideas effectively to one’s peers is an invaluable skill. I believe that over-complication in the sciences is an inefficiency and that this conviction makes me an asset to any company that I work for. My previous experiences make my perspective one that not many in the industry have and have made me a better-rounded individual. Most of all, I believe that regardless of where I land, my pursuit for a better world will be a prolific one.
