My background is in K-12 special education and providing quality instruction for students with disabilities. In working with curriculum and digital tools that weren't tailored to my students' needs, I thought, "there has to be a better way." From there, I learned about digital accessibility, which seeks to address these issues by creating content adhering to accessibility standards so that anyone can access it. It's incredibly important work, and as someone with a bit of HTML/CSS/JavaScript experience, it's been great getting to use these skills in a new context. I'm new to this field and have a lot to learn, but I recently passed the DHS Trusted Tester exam to become a certified accessibility tester, as well as the IAAP CPACC Exam to demonstrate proficiency in accessibility core competencies. As an experienced special education teacher and tutor for students with disabilities, I'm also very familiar with ADA laws, section 504, and the special education process in general, and am available to share my skills as a special education advocate or consultant. I do continue to offer tutoring services for students as well! Looking forward to connecting with like-minded individuals passionate about making the world a more accessible and neurodiversity-affirming place.
