In my current role at ZX Ventures (AB-InBev) I am analyzing systems and processes to identify and resolve issues impacting under-represented and under-resourced talent from historically marginalized communities. As a researcher for the Veterans Affairs Health System, I am studying LGBTQ veterans patient/provider interactions and designing a tool to improve the experience for all parties, while adhering to HIPPA, IRB, and other professional guidelines. I've been trained in ethnographic methods, participatory design, Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, and other qualitative research techniques. And as a Fellow at Minority Veterans of America, the programs, partnerships, and policy recommendations my team and I develop directly impact 10.2-million minority-identified US Veterans. When advising startups, I analyze their operations, marketing, and culture to identify growth opportunities and recommend ways for founders to develop their understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging - and build equity into their business model. While co-founding and leading SPARTA, a national transgender military organization, I developed programs for members while simultaneously working to preserve and create economic opportunities for transgender individuals within the largest employer in the world - the Department of Defense. We achieved open transgender service in four years, six years ahead of our most optimistic timeline. My passion for designing safe and equitable systems originates from my military and skilled trades training. There, I learned to analyze, design, and implement highly technical mechanical systems to exacting specifications.
