I have been a research assistant to our Medical ICU Director for two multinational research studies on ARDS. I was a co-investigator for the global phase 3 SCARLET Study using thrombomodulin in sepsis-induced coagulopathy and ARDS. I single handedly created and implemented a vancomycin dosing table for use in critically ill patients on continuous renal replacement therapy. In addition to my research, I am also a highly regarded educator for pharmacy students, residents and the multidisciplinary ICU team. I serve as the Program Director for the PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency program. My experience and reputation in the ICU has allowed me many opportunities to serve in leadership roles within the hospital as well as the healthcare system. I was asked to attend a meeting in Washington, DC to represent the Vanguard Healthcare System to speak to legislation attempting to limit our ability to use glucometers in the critically ill patient population. This was a meeting with the American Hospital Association and representatives from CMS and other healthcare facilities around the nation. I was one of only a couple dozen people at this meeting. I thoroughly enjoy the ICU environment and the challenges presented to me daily. I pride myself on being a caring, compassionate and empathetic individual.
