This University has allowed me to be able to further my education in my passion for English and Art. I am passionate about the beauty of the English language and how it can be used to connect and inspire others. I love to hear people's stories, and am inspired by the many different outlets that can be used to tell the histories of individuals and cultures. My goal is to find a way to professionally connect people to other individuals and cultures through the use of the written word or art. I believe that everyone has a story to tell, and whether through words or art, it is important to tell them. Stories are what connects us not only to eachother but to our past as well, and fostering this connection is one of my strongest ambitions. In my position as an Assistant Care Giver for children with special needs, I have to help children on a wide range of reading levels make their way through books and writing assignments. I have been able to see firsthand how reading can positively impact a child. I have used books to help children address and safely explore potentially difficult topics of life. I have seen how a child can get lost in a book and discover things like friendship and adventure. I have and continue to cherish this impact on these kids, and hope to take this with me in my future careers.
