Kevin Ulgenalp Email & Phone Number | I have been working in the theme parks and attractions industry for more than twenty years, beginning with Walt Disney Parks & Resorts as a developer of souvenir merchandise. I started at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida as Merchant for the “Disney at Home” souvenir merchandise range. In 2000 I was transferred to Tokyo Disney Resort to oversee the development of all new souvenir merchandise for the opening of Tokyo Disney Sea and ongoing development for Tokyo Disneyland. In an effort to broaden my international experience, I moved on from Disney in 2004, and took on the role of Merchandise Development Manager for Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark. There I delivered a new range of Tivoli branded merchandise and developed plans for a new main entry retail shop, while also managing the merchandise department’s day-to-day operations. In the Spring of 2008, I was hired as the Director of Merchandise for Farah Leisure (Farah Experiences), the operator of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, and Warner Bros. World. In this role I was responsible for planning, designing, and operating the merchandise department for Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, which during its first year of operation achieved one of the highest merchandise per capita spend of any theme park in the world. After the opening of Ferrari World I became the Director of Research and Development, a role that broadened my knowledge of the industry into the areas of theme park planning, feasibility, and design. Seeking greater responsibility, I took on the role of CEO, Entertainment Division for Fawaz Al Hokair Group in Saudi Arabia. I managed the pre-opening of two indoor theme parks, Kidzania Jeddah and Snow Village Jeddah, and launched the Billy Beez brand of indoor soft-play parks in KSA and the United States. I then ventured to the fastest growing region in the world for themed entertainment, China, as the General Manager for all pre-opening activities of the Rio Carnival project in Qingdao, a mixed-used development featuring a theme park, family entertainment center and water park. I was then recruited to be the General Manager of Hello Kitty Park in Anji, Zhejiang, China to manage all day-to-day operations of the soft-opening and Grand Opening of the park. Since returning to the US after being abroad for nearly 15 years, I have had various contract consulting roles through my consulting firm, KRU Consulting. I'm always eager to meet my next client to see what excitement and adventure it will bring.
