My aha moment took place in Australia when I realised that one of the way’s to fix the world’s problems was to put a price on pollution and internalise it into the cost of doing business.. At the time, in 2007, this manifested as Carbon Trading which lead me to start Global Carbon Exchange. But in the span of 15 years, our business model transformed into what we now know as GCX - an ESG technology and consulting company that helps large, complex organisations to decarbonise and set and meet their sustainability goals. Not without a few bumps in the road, but definitely valuable learning curves all now embedded in our sector leading innovation, leveraging advanced technology as an enabler to collect and transform data into valuable business intelligence. Business intelligence based on reliable data to ensure -Transparency, accountability and hopefully, social and environmental justice. The ultimate goal, however, is to use these insights to ensure that large companies go beyond trying to reduce their negative impacts, and start to rather focus on how they can drive a positive impact for the benefit of the planet and ALL its people.
