I was an early believer in the significance of the IP revolution and worked diligently within Ericsson to broaden the understanding of the implications of this shift to our customers. I have often led technical teams that have developed innovative solutions such as the marriage of IP access into core switching which gave unique benefits well ahead of the broader market. I was also an early adopter of SIP as the service layer for the future; working to bring SIP into the mainstream in the late 90's. More recently I have also championed the move to IP as the bearer of video through the development of customer solutions based on IPTV. I tried to get access to content for streaming in 2011 and was told that people like Rupert Murdoch 'loved their linear channels'. My main goal is to see the companies I work with achieve higher-than-average growth through technical innovation and customer satisfaction. I am well aware of the need for any technological implementation to be seen as contributing to helping the customer achieve their needs, and as a result, I have always worked to see that the total package not only gives a technical advantage but also reduces customer complexity. I firmly believe in the importance of quality in all aspects of systems development. As such I found the role of Systems Engineer exciting as it gave me the chance to add real value to projects by not only reviewing and approving documentation but also by questioning aspects of the solutions to make sure that we achieved the best possible result for the company. Having worked across all areas of the telecommunications industry, from OSS/BSS system development, through fixed and mobile product development, I can bring a true end-to-end view to solution specification and development. More recently I have been leading efforts to integrate traditional Systems Engineering Discipline into the Agile development model using tools such as the Atlassian suite.
