During my journeys I've learned to walk "between the planes," and can translate fluently between artists, techies, non-techies, and managers. :) Due to that experience (and of course, the information science degree), I have a vested interest in knowledge management, training and mentoring, and process analysis. I strive to enable my teams to perform at their best by communicating the project concerns in a holistic way, demonstrating the tasks I ask people to take on, and planning not only for the feature deadlines but for the successive steps down the project timeline to retain or even accelerate the momentum we build. But it starts with core-level interactions - making sure that my reports understand the design goal and have processes that support that goal, and have a core understanding of their tasks that enables them to problem solve when new obstacles appear. Once they have confidence at that level, they often go on to tackle tough problems in ways that amaze me. Diversity, inclusivity and accessibility are also key focuses of mine. I'm currently heading up the DEI ERG at my studio, where we look for ways not only to build empathy and advocate for each other, but ways to build that type of thinking into our design and production processes inherently, and to boost employee voices so that developers feel more heard, and managers become more informed. For myself, I'm a quick learner when it comes to tools, and an old hand at system development and process improvement. My favorite tasks have always involved writing, world building, and story creation, so I'm always on the lookout for any chance to develop as a teller of stories and a herald of worlds.
