  Kees Saarloos is a I am a versatile lawyer with a strong academic background. I wrote my PhD thesis about private international law and family law and as part of my position as junior researcher at Maastricht University I taught a wide variety of courses including contract and property law (vermogensrecht), private international law, family law in Europe and comparative law. I started my career as a lawyer in financial regulatory law and pension law. I loved the diversity of the work which included providing legal advice, assisting in M&A deals, negotiating asset management agreements of all sorts and restructuring pension schemes. Later I became part of the team that focused on administrative law and I became a teacher for the administrative law courses at De Brauw. I represented clients in administrative proceedings and in a broad range of civil proceedings which had some kind of link with (financial) regulatory law. My current practice focuses primarily on commercial litigation in particular cartel damage litigation. I have been involved in damage proceedings following from infringements on, for example, the truck market, the CRT market, the prestressing steel market, the paraffin wax market, the German sugar market, the Dutch bitumen market and the elevator market.
