Students consistently made academic gains in all of my classes, including on average 2.2 years of academic growth from diagnostic to final assessment in 8th and 9th grades and scoring an average of 87.7% on standardized NC State End-Of-Course exams in 10th grade, which exceeded the assessment results within a number of top-performing schools in North Carolina.Advised and mentored corps members teaching in high-need classrooms in Los Angeles, as well constructed United States and World History curriculum units aligned to state standards used throughout these classrooms in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Responsibilities included: -Reviewed lesson plans, observed corps members' classroom teaching, and provided feedback aligned with the Teaching As Leadership (TAL) framework in writing and through weekly debrief conversations. -Provided in-the-moment instructional coaching to develop CMs' execution skills, especially as they concerned identifying and responding to student misunderstandings. -Coached corps members during group learning experiences led by curriculum and literacy specialists. -Collaborated with members of the school team and staff at the summer institute to make data-driven decisions on how to best meet student and corps member needs.
