As a 2019 graduate of the University of Michigan-Flint’s computer science program specializing in software engineering, I have been chasing this passion through my college career and beyond. My 3.89 finishing GPA, high honors, and five-year dean’s list streak speak to my commitment to my goals and to the art of development. It’s this penchant for programming that’s helped me to become a skilled problem-solver with more than just lines of code. In addition to my numerous C++ and other object-oriented programming-based courses in college, my two months of experience as a junior software developer at General Inspection, LLC has taught me much more well-rounded skills. While working there, I learned a lot about working on software in a team. I debugged code in C# and .NET, tracking down problems in General Inspection’s codebase. I eliminated several problems and streamlined several areas of the software for quicker and more user-friendly performance. I also created tools to help the rest of the development team debug the codebase, helping to streamline the development process. I also have a lot of experience working as a team player. Working at Meijer, Inc and Walmart, Inc taught me a lot about good teamwork, such as efficient communication and active listening. The same goes for my work as a conference associate at the national Game Developers Conference in 2018 and 2019, which helped me to become more knowledgeable about both good teamwork and good game development practices in one swoop. I currently have the most experience with C++, C#, HTML, and .NET; I have also done work with Java and Python. However, I am always looking to learn more. Currently, I strive to keep my skills sharp by working on personal projects, such as game development with Unity’s C# scripting and coding challenges in both my core languages and those in which I still have much more to learn.
