Katie Featonby Email & Phone Number | I'm currently working as a Diabetic Retinal Photographer/Screener and Grader for North Yorkshire Diabetic Eye Screening Programme NHS. This is an interesting job where despite being an part of a team I mostly work autonomosly running my own clinics, travelling around North Yorkshire screening patients in local Gp practices and hospitals, using various fundus cameras and OCT machines in order to capture images of the retina in patients with diabetes to make sure there are no changes that could indicate disease which could cause visual loss or blindness. When im not out and about in clinic i am also a Grader, which basically means that the images that have been taken by the clinicians and uploaded onto our system will be checked throughly by me in order to spot any changes and signs of disease, so i give the images a grade and can offer my diagnosis in order for that patient to be referred to the hospital eye service for further tests and treatment. I also help to train others in becoming photographers and/or graders and help deliver the admin needed to run a successful service. Prior to this I've been busy in assisting in the launch of a new business venture for an established bakery, helping with a new business during start up, also co creating an arts and crafts business and buying and selling online. Before that I was Retail Manager at the BHF. I'm proud in the fact that I made a huge difference in bringing an under-performing shop up to one of the highest profit retail shops in the company out of over 800 stores and were top of the company for three months (a York store beating even London branches!) and hitting over our 100k profit that only the highest earning shops can achieve. Sadly chances for progression were non existent in the BHF and so I left to find a new challenge in a role that would gain me better prospects, a nice working environment and a chance to put my creative skills, positive energy and passion to good use. I'm also a very creative, with an NVQ lvl 2 in Hairdressing and many hobbies which involve crafting all kinds of items, modelling miniatures, photography, animals and have a passion for movies and all things sci fi (I'm a regular at many comic cons and events!). A dream of mine would be to move into movie make up, props, set design and behind the scenes as i love all things Film and TV. I have also been part of the opening of Warcraft the movie exhibition at Madame Tussaud's with the cast, appearing on the dvd and prior to that I'm also in the web video series for the movie 'PULP'.
