I am responsible for projects involving HIM; including support of the SMART system for coding quality improvement. I assisted clients in increasing their coding quality, revenue cycle improvement and denials management. I authored/provided ongoing onsite and web training sessions to clients. Prior to PwC, I worked as the OP Coding Supervisor at a large hospital campus in Upstate NY for 8 years. I specialized in outpatient coding, education and denials management. My experience includes working with all areas of the hospital campus. Prior to this I worked as an OP Team Leader for 7 years at a level I Trauma hospital providing the same services. Prior experience; • Performed diagnostic and operative chart review in the areas of ICD-9/10-CM, ICD-9/10 procedure coding, CPT and evaluation and management. • Worked within the revenue cycle improvement team to identify cash flow issues and implement improvements in all areas. • Managed and trained Coders and worked with Ancillary groups who did charging within their specialties to ensure accuracy and regulatory guidelines were followed. • Assisted in the implementation of an Electronic Medical Record. I worked with Leadership and Physicians to improve documentation requirements, which supported a higher consistency in both coding and compliance. I provided education to IT staff, RN’s, Physicians and EHR vendors regarding the documentation required in the EHR for infusion and injections among other procedures, which allowed Coders to capture services accurately, increasing facility revenue and compliance goals.
