Prior to moving to Indiana, I practiced law in California. For two years, I was a staff attorney at the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District, Division Three, in Santa Ana, CA. I am a member of the U.S. Supreme Court bar, and submitted an amicus brief in the case of Troxel v. Granville, 530 U.S. 57 (2000). Specialties: In addition to my general appellate practice, I do appeals and consultations in the area of grandparent visitation disputes. Wearing my author hat, I have published nine novels, and as of November 2018, have two more in the pipeline. Most are science fiction of one sort or another, including one series of (so far) three aliens-and-other-planets novels, one stand-alone novel fitting the same description, one afterlife fantasy, and four near-future novels, one of them arguably YA. My two current drafts include another near-future novel and a major departure for me, a Western historical romance. I also combined my two pursuits by publishing a nonfiction resource for authors, law students, and anyone else interested in learning more about the American legal landscape. Closest to the Fire: A Writer's Guide to Law and Lawyers is a reference work, designed to be consulted on specific topics, but readers have told me they enjoyed reading it straight through.
