Kalley Guerdet Email & Phone Number | Kalley is an Environmental Scientist with aspirations in the field of Water Resource Management and Ecological Restoration. With a degree in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management Kalley devoted her education to conservation and resource management. Through her undergrad she was exposed to programs such as ArcGIS, the statistical software R and Rcmdr, and Excel. Kalley continued to further enhance her education by taking the opportunity to study abroad in a program specifically oriented for the field of science and research. It was through this program that she had the opportunity to conduct her own research involving the antiseptic capabilities of a native plant species. Through her undergrad career, Kalley also had the opportunity of being an undergraduate teaching assistant where she facilitated an in-lab biology course for undergrads. Kalley's background with USDA NRCS enhanced her capabilities in creating and analyzing maps through ArcGIS. It was also through this position that Kalley became proficient with the preparation and technical writing of conservation easements for private landowners, specifically within the NRCS Wetland Reserve Program. In her experience with the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board, Kalley assisted staff in the monitoring, management, and analysis of water resources in Minneapolis. Her fine attention to detail and passion for continued learning elevated her position twice while working for the organization. In her most recent role as Water Quality Specialist she was integral to developing a pilot program for monitoring Harmful Algae Blooms, specifically algae blooms caused by Cyanobacteria. In her research for the program she was able to provide the organization with key information on Cyanobacteria species, cyanotoxins, cyanotoxin testing, and methods for protecting the public from Cyanobacteria blooms. Kalley currently holds a position with the Carver County Water Management Organization where she reviews permits for development projects and provides professional analysis in regards to water resource engineering. Her role is integral to the regulation and protection of water resources in the County. In her spare time Kalley enjoys paying it forward by donating time to organizations such as Friends of the Mississippi River and Three Rivers Park Reserve, contributing to environmental activities such as: habitat restoration and native prairie seed collection.
