  Kalin Amende is a I've always known that I enjoy helping others. I just had a hard time figuring out exactly how I was going to incorporate this love for people into a career. After taking many general courses throughout my undergraduate years, I began to take an increased interest in mental health. That led me to earn my BS in Psychology. However, I didn't think I was done. I worked in PSR (CBRS) and case management throughout my undergraduate experience, and although I enjoyed the impact I had on the community, I didn't feel it was enough. I needed more knowledge. I wanted to do more. This led me to apply and accept a graduate program in Mental Health Counseling at ISU. Within this program, I was encouraged to grow not only educationally but inwardly as well. I learned more about who I was and started being truly honest with myself on what I wanted to do - and who I wanted to be. Yet, my passion for education kept me going. I decided, in my final year of my Masters program, to apply to a doctoral program in Counseling Education and Supervision. With much excitement, I was offered a spot as a doctoral student for the 2018-2021 cohort! Finally, my passion for education and my love for people are able to work together! When I am not focused on education or counseling, I can be found spending time with my family and my pup, Ruger. I enjoy walking, running, and/or anything that gets me moving! I value self-care and am always sure to incorporate enjoyable and relaxing activities into my daily life (we all enjoy that Netflix binge, am I right?).
