The greatest lesson I have learned from these roles is the power of active listening and critical thinking skills, as I am continually looking for ways to empower employees and make them more successful and happy in their roles. I want to be in this field as I have always been interested in the strategic role human resources has on an organization, and the many impacts that can come from implementing and changing policies to give more autonomy to employees. During my college career, I was able to gain new skills by my position of Honors Leadership Board President. With this role I was introduced to honors opportunities which enabled me to write and present my research for three consecutive years at the Mid-East Honors Association and the Liberal Arts Network for Development conference, as well as becoming the officer responsible for all honors submissions. Along with my involvement in Phi Theta Kappa, and my job on Delta’s campus I became highly involved in a number of events and was chosen to represent my graduating class as commencement speaker at Delta’s ceremony in May 2016.
