It is a balancing act of the mess that is humanity and a pristine communication. The beauty does not simply lie in the contrast of these opposing concepts, but in the dance created by the harmonious interaction between them. As a designer, my creative process reflects the duality of this philosophy. I believe it is necessary from ideation to actuality to push a concept in opposite directions. I find the most innovative solutions live in the overlap. My process has become more of a fluid reflex as opposed to a stringent checklist. However, I can boil it down to six landmarks I pass on my journey to a “completed” design: Research, Inspiration, Creation, Rest, Edit, and Refine. There is also something unable to be put in words that happens during each project. It is a kind of primal excitement, an instinctual urge to explore further. I believe this is not so much a part of my process as it is a part of me as a person; the reason I create. I live for design. Design, even great design, will always leave us slightly dissatisfied. Nothing is perfect. There is always room for improvement. This is what keeps me going as a designer.
