Until the end of March 2018, I was a Junior English Copywriter at M&L – an incredibly aggressive and dynamic advertising firm located in the heart of Sheung Wan. At M&L, we worked with a diverse cast of clients ranging from internationally renowned brands like TUMI and Kuoni Travel to globally acknowledged organizations like the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Hong Kong Jockey Club. While my list of responsibilities included most things English, including copywriting, proofreading and editing for the aforementioned clients above, I was also charged with organizing presentation documents and creative proposals for both existing and prospective clients. As a member of M&L’s creative team, I also played an active supportive role for many essential brainstorming occasions, as well as photography and filming sessions for our clients’ online and offline campaigns. So why did I choose to be a copywriter? Writing is a form of my creative outlet, and has always been a fond interest of mine since high school and university. During those years, I was privileged enough to intern at several renowned advertising firms like Leo Burnett Hong Kong, Turn Creative, and 3Screens, where I was able to both polish my core writing skills and be exposed to work environments for large-scale and boutique advertising firms. In my spare time, I'm an avid reader of fantasy and fiction novels, a gamer and former Masters-level player in Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch. I’m also an aspiring chef and can make a pretty mean cornbread and stew.
