I was a Navy Fleet Marine Force Corpsman (combat medic), and the man in front of me was my doctor. He had gently suggested splitting the surgery for my bilateral plantar fasciitis into two separate procedures. All told, I was going to spend a year in recovery. No deployment. That just isn't my style. I like to go all in. I wanted the surgery done on both feet at the same time. Sure, I'd end up in a wheelchair for 3 months. But if it meant getting back to my calling sooner, I was willing. When it comes to helping people, if I can't do, then I'll teach. That's how I was as a Training Petty Officer in the Navy for my junior sailors and Marines, where I taught some of them everything from applying a bandage to stabbing someone in need of an IV with a 16g needle. These philosophies of needing to help others and always going all in to help someone has carried over to my civilian life. I moved from saving lives to saving lifestyles. If I can secure someone's finances enough to make sure their health, family and retirement are set, my job is done. If my work carries on in such a way that my clients' children can enjoy generational wealth, my job is done. If my clients aren't afraid of financial ruin no matter the storm, my job is done.
