I have a 28 year old daughter with Down syndrome. One of the most important things that my daughter has shown me is that she wants to do the same things as her sisters and her friends. She has shown me that she can learn anything as long as I teach her the way she learns. Individuals with disabilities are a blessing to our lives. We can learn so much from them. My daughter has taught me how to live life fuller, happier, and to enjoy each moment. She is so grateful for the life she has been given. She appreciates and respects everyone she meets. Our family is so very blessed. As our children grow up and become adults, life brings new challenges to everyone. Our young adults with disabilities become even more aware of the limitations that society puts on them. They can experience many emotions and question what is next? As a Parent of a young adult daughter with Down syndrome, I continue to look for new opportunities and find ways to encourage my daughter and other young adults so that they can look forward to tomorrow. I am honored to mentor my daughter and others so they can accept and embrace the changes in their lives. Specialties: Parent of a child with a disability. Advocate of individuals with disabilities. Worked for the Olathe School district from 1999-2010 as an inclusion para professional k-6, music therapy para professional and 3 1/2 years in Early childhood preschool.
