Mr. Grant currently serves as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Department of Justice in Springfield, Illinois. He has also volunteered in community youth outreach programs to increase access to justice and has been selected to serve as an adjunct faculty member at the National Advocacy Center, where he teaches trial advocacy and presentations skills. Before joining DOJ, Mr. Grant served the State of Illinois in a variety of roles, including as Deputy Inspector General for the Illinois Executive Inspector General and Assistant Attorney General for the Illinois Attorney General. In those roles, Mr. Grant enforced the State’s ethics laws and handled a wide variety of cases, including disability, discrimination, and tort cases. Prior to working for the State of Illinois, Mr. Grant worked for four judges in federal and state court where he learned how to fairly and objectively write judicial decisions and the importance of administering impartial and equal justice. Mr. Grant graduated with honors from the Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he also published the law review article Supervisors, Sex, and the Seventh Circuit: No Should Always Mean No. Mr. Grant served as a Student Editor of the Employee Rights and Employment Policy Journal, was elected Co-President of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund, and volunteered with the Kent Justice Foundation to raise money for public interest law. Prior to his legal education, he graduated magna cum laude from Bradley University. An avid animal lover, Mr. Grant has spoken about animal law, as well as volunteered at an animal shelter. Stanford University published a law review article Mr. Grant wrote about animal law. He is also a published poet.
